Relieve Chronic Pain
When illness or pain lingers you need an advocate in your corner, a coach, a mentor, a guide—even a mechanic for those tough under the hood situations. Our bodies are a lot like the vehicles we drive—regular maintenance is how we can help them to run a little better and keep us safely on the road.
Chronic conditions turn our bodies into high maintenance vehicles. As we mature chronic conditions evolve and sometimes worsen. Working with a coach is motivating, can recharge your batteries, and places an expert in your corner.
Each and every one of us handles pain a little differently, experiences it differently, and will tolerate pain in differing degrees. Pain medication use is a very personal experience that should be monitored by you and your doctor. On my website, I offer a number of tools and resources that have been useful for me.

Receiving regular acupuncture treatments was by far the most effective remedy for me to manage pain and minimize my stress before my hip replacement surgeries and as an ongoing practice afterward. Today I am a regular recipient and can't imagine my life without acupuncture. Want to learn more? Visit my Recommended Products page and receive a free brochure discussing acupuncture and why it's one of my 4 Proven Methods to Manage Chronic Pain.
If you're in the Salt Lake City area, I recommend visiting QiWorks Community Acupuncture to educate yourself and explore this option.
My acupuncturist belongs to a national cooperative called POCA (People's Organization of Community Acupuncture). For those outside of Utah, search for POCA locations in the United States here

In my book, Butternut to Bionic: A Resource Guide for Hip Replacement Surgery, I describe specific tools and resources that I found useful during my recovery and beyond. Investigate products to ensure they are in your best interest! Speak to your healthcare provider if you have concerns or questions.
Arnica is a homeopathic that has been in my life for many moons and has been my go to gel to minimize bruises (externally & internally) and decrease swelling. Bio-Oil has provided me with positive results to improve the texture and color of my surgical scars and ProCure Epsom Salt Gel is a newly discovered favorite to ease aches and pains. I especially like that the gel is easy to transport and shelf stable. I keep a tube in my office and have on hand while I travel for easy spot treatment. I prefer a natural mineral spring soak or Epsom salt bath when I have the time and opportunity though have found this Epsom salt gel is extremely effective and provides me with long-lasting pain relief.
